KP22-digital is the sibling of The Artists Easter Exhibition (Kunstnernes Påskeudstilling) which invites all artists, regardless of age, background, nationality and place of residence, to submit digital works experimenting with the unlimited virtual space of the online format. KP-digital caters for digital art by creating a platform that meets digital art on the digital art's own terms. KP-digital is the only meritorious platform for the presentation of digital art in Denmark.
Why KP22-digital? The digital art offers an essential opportunity to reflect on our contemporary perhaps most significant paradigm shift - from an analog to a digital era - through art. It works on the media's own terms and is thus an important aspect in understanding the development of culture in the digital era.
The Artists’ Easter Exhibition, also known as KP, is one of the five nationally supported open juried exhibitions in Denmark. The Artists' Easter exhibition was established in 1947, where the association UNG KUNST took the initiative to create an independent art and exhibition environment outside of Copenhagen. Under the name 'Censureret udstilling' the first exhibition was shown at the Aarhus Art Museum during Easter the same year.
KP supports tradition and renewal. The purpose of The Artists’ Easter Exhibition is to give established artists as well as new talents the opportunity to introduce their works to a large audience. By means of the selection made by the jury, some of the current trends which are expressed in art right now are introduced. At the same time the censored exhibition produces tradition and renewal. Every year new ideas appear on the art scene indicating in which direction art is moving – based on content, expression and the media used by the contributing artists.
